NEW YORK - The NYPD is questioning a second grade student at a public school in Far Rockaway, Queens, after a school safety agent found a handgun in his bag.
Police confirmed that the gun was a .22 caliber but did not say if it was loaded. It was found just after 10 a.m. at the Wave Preparatory Elementary School.
There were no reports of injuries at the school.
The school was put under a lockdown during the investigation.
The boy being questioned is only 7 years old.
