However, when the driver of a $257,000 Ferrari 458 returned to his car yesterday to find a policeman issuing him a fine he did just the opposite.
He refused to listen to the policeman, hopped behind the wheel and then seemingly drove over the officer’s foot.
As his girlfriend – MTV The Hills’ star Stephanie Pratt – looked on helplessly, the man was hauled out the sports car, thrown to the ground and handcuffed.
Adding to the driver’s embarrassment, Damian Mory, a passer-by in Manhattan’s swanky SoHo district, caught the whole incident on camera and posted the video to YouTube.
After the driver gets into his red Ferrari the officer stands in front of the car in an effort to stop the man driving away.
As the men continue to shout at one another, the driver pulls forward slightly. Seconds later, the officer then slams his fist into the car’s window yelling that his foot has been run over.
‘You run down my ******* foot’, the officer screams.
Now seriously enraged, he opens the car door and drags the driver out as other officers gather round to help pin the man to the ground.
Witnesses at the scene allege that the car was legally parked in a hotel’s valet zone and the hotel had approved the Ferrari to be parked there.
Whether he was legally parked or not, rather than escaping in his Ferrari, the driver leaves the scene in the back of a police car.
As her boyfriend is taken to the nearest police station, Stephanie Pratt speeds off in the Ferrari.
