Williamsburg, NY - 2nd Alarm Fire Damages Satmar Shul




Williamsburg, NY - A large fire at the basement of a synagogue and multiple dwellings above left major damages to the building but no one injured.

The fire was in the basement of the Satmar synagogue at 109 South 8th Street and Bedford Avenue, FDNY, Hatzolah and Shomrim units all worked to get the fire under control and save all occupants from the above apartments.

  2. Didn't the alte Satmar rebbe, ZTL, once paskin that it is assur for someone to sleep over a shul or beis medrash? If so, how could there have been apartments upstairs from the shul? Did they leave the building every time there was davening or learning?
