Holocaust Survivor Critically Hurt by Minivan in Queens

















A 92-year-old Holocaust survivor was fighting for her life Thursday night after she was hit by a minivan in Queens.

Ilonko Krauss was crossing 75th Avenue in Forest Hills when a minivan that was backing into a parking spot stuck her, authorities said.

Medics rushed Krauss to New York Hospital-Queens, where she was listed in critical condition.

Neighbors told Fox 5 News that Krauss is a survivor of the Auschwitz Nazi death camp in World War II.

Police briefly took the driver of the 2003 Toyota Sienna into custody and issued him two summonses for unsafe backing and failure to exercise due care.

He told Fox 5 News that is was an accident and that he was upset.
