The Academy Award winning actress Natalie Portman has revealed that she will not find out the sex of her baby before she gives birth later this year, because of Jewish superstition.
Ms Portman, 29, who is expecting her first child with her Black Swan choreographer boyfriend Benjamin Millepied, told US Weekly magazine that she did not want to know before the due date.
She said: ""People can say a lot of things and they have a 50 percent chance of being right.
"I'm Jewish and I think in Judaism, there's a lot of superstition around not doing too much before the baby comes."
The Jerusalem-born actress's latest film, the medieval comedy Your Highness, which also stars Jewish actor James Franco, is released in the UK this week.
