A 19-year-old Jerusalem resident was arrested last week on suspicion of raping a disabled 12-year-old girl in the bathroom of a cafe in Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court lifted a gag order on the case on Monday afternoon.

On February 4 at around 6:00 A.M., the 12-year-old girl arrived at Hillel Street in central Jerusalem with her father, who went into a synagogue and left the girl in the street.

The suspect, Nissim Pines Zada, then allegedly tried to attack the girl, but was interrupted by people passing by so he took her into the bathroom of a nearby Aroma café and raped her there.

Zada was arrested last Wednesday after police received reports that a man was trying to drag away a girl on Ben-Eliezer street in Jerusalem. Police forces arrived at the scene and arrested Zada on the spot. During his investigation, it was suspected that he was responsible for the rape of the 12-year-old girl a few days prior.

During his investigation, Zada claimed that he spent the entire morning of the rape praying in his home, which contradicted evidence obtained by the police. Zada also refused to take part in a line up and refused to confess to the rape.

On Monday morning, the suspect claimed that he was mentally ill.
