Long Island man flashing fake cop badge busted, slapped with criminal impersonation

A numbskull Long Island man flashing a fake badge was busted Friday for impersonating an police officer, Suffolk County cops said.

Christopher Maier, 28, told a real officer during a traffic stop at around 12:15 p.m. that he was a Fire Island cop and showed a Lieutenant badge, police said Saturday.

But a background check revealed he wasn't true blue.

Maier, whose Facebook page says he owns a home improvement company, was charged with criminal impersonation, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip Saturday.
