Man killed in south Tel Aviv car blast

A man was killed in a car bomb blast in south Tel Aviv on Saturday evening.

Paramedics arrived on the scene at around 7:30 P.M. after receiving reports of a car engulfed in flames in Tel Aviv's Kfar Shalem neighborhood.

A Magen David Adom emergency unit pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The circumstances of the explosion are still unclear, but a criminal motive is suspected.

On Monday, two men were killed after an explosion occured in the car they were driving in Petah Tikva in the early morning. Three passersby were lightly injured in the incident, which police suspect was caused by a car bomb being affixed to the vehicle.

Police Commissioner Tal Pikrevich, head of the Petah Tikva police station, said the two deaths were probably related to criminal activity, and that an investigation is underway.

Last Saturday, Yossi Buhbut, who had ties to the criminal underworld, was shot dead in Ashkelon in southern Israel. He was the son of Pinhas Buhbut, a known crime boss who was murdered in 1999.

The son's death appears to be connected to an affair he had with a young woman from the north of the country.
