A mother from the Lev Tahor community has published an open
letter online asking for help to put an end to the children’s services case
against her family.
The married mother of three writes of how two of her
children, a 4-year-old and 1-year-old, were seized by Chatham-Kent Children’s
Services last month and placed in custody for two days.
She refers to the
investigation as a “torture campaign” and describes the methods of children’s
aid as “frightening.”
“I can not imagine my children being further terrorized by
seeing again persons visit their house to look for unreasonable reasons to
abduct them,” she says in the letter.
“I must cry out to just anyone, please
call the society and look for some human feeling at the society’s office and
ask them please (give) up the improper visits and withdraw your unjustified
case against any innocent parents including Jewish devoted one.”
The mother’s two children were seized after authorities say
they found unexplained bruises on the their faces during a surprise visit.
The
matter has been adjourned until April as a lawyer for Lev Tahor gathers letters
from several doctors in Quebec and Ontario that offer a reason for the
bruising.
Lev Tahor, an ultra-orthodox Jewish sect, is at the centre of an
on-going children’s aid investigation.
