NEW YORK — Nassau
County police shot and wounded a man who allegedly struck an officer with a car
in Queens Sunday.
Nassau County police told CBS 2 the incident happened around
4:40 p.m. at 186-10 Wexford Terr. in Queens. Officers from Nassau County had
crossed into Queens for an investigation, police said.
Sources told 1010 WINS’ Roger Stern two Nassau County
officers approached a car, and the driver took off and struck one of the
officers.
The other officer opened fire on the car, and critically
wounded someone inside, police said.
The 21-year-old man was taken to Jamaica Hospital with a
gunshot wound to the torso, police said.
The officer was taken to North Shore-LIJ Health System North
Shore University Hospital in Manhasset with leg injuries, police said.
The crime scene was near the Passionist Monastery in Jamaica
Estates, Queens.
