Judge demands count of Menachem Stark money

A Brooklyn judge on Thursday ordered slain slumlord Menachem Stark’s lawyer to account for up to $2 million in rent money after a creditor said it may have been stolen by the victim before he was killed.

Stark and business partner Israel “Sam” Perlmutter owe $29 million on the 74-unit apartment building at 100 S. Fourth St. in Williamsburg and filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009.

They are supposed to report monthly, but German American Capital Corp. said the funds haven’t been accounted for since at least Dec. 1.

Papers filed in Brooklyn Bankruptcy Court say there may have been “significant unauthorized withdrawals,” citing news reports that Stark “was in financial dire straits” when he disappeared Jan. 2.

Perlmutter, 42, hasn’t been seen in public since then, and was a no-show Wednesday night for his nephew’s wedding, according to one attendee.
