Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita has been admitted to a psychiatric facility
against his will and criminal proceedings against him have been halted. In
light of expert testimony as to the deranged state of the defendant’s mind the
court ordered halting criminal proceedings.
The defendant, YF (name on file), was sent by Tel Aviv
Magistrate Court Justice Mayan Ben-Ari to the Abarbanel Mental Hospital during
a hearing on Thursday, 4 Kislev 5774. It has been determined that at least for
the time being, the defendant is not mentally competent to stand trial.
The district level physiatrist ruled the defendant is
incompetent and this brought the criminal proceedings to an abrupt halt. The
defendant’s attorney states that unlike what was first believed, there was
absolutely no connection between the assault and the municipal elections,
simply stated the defendant is not responsible for his actions.
