Elin Nordegren's 'fake text messages' snared Tiger Woods for cheating

Tiger Woods was first caught cheating in 2009 through some sneaky text messaging by his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, a new report reveals.

The former Swedish model is alleged to have taken the golfer’s phone while he was passed out under the influence of sleeping pills, on Thanksgiving night four years ago.

Elin began scrolling through her then-husband’s messages hitting upon an exchange between Woods and one of his mistresses Rachel Uchitel - and that’s when she began impersonating Tiger.

According to The Daily Beast , Nordegren, 33, first grew suspicious after she saw a National Enquirer article, published Thanksgiving week in 2009, claiming the pro athlete was embroiled in an illicit affair with Uchitel.

A source told the publication that Tiger, 37, got Uchitel on the phone on November 24 one day prior to the story hitting news stands so she could persuade Elin into believing they were merely friends - the two talked for half an hour.

But Nordegren was not convinced.

On Thanksgiving night, Woods, who is known for having trouble sleeping, is reported to have passed out after dinner with the aid of Ambien and Vicodin.

Once he was asleep, Nordegren grabbed Tiger’s phone and found a text message from Uchitel, saying: ‘You are the only one I’ve loved.’

It was by then the early morning hours of Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when Nordegren hatched a plan.

The mother-of-two wrote back, impersonating Tiger: ‘I miss you. When are we seeing each other again?’

Woods’ mistress promptly replied, conveying surprise that the golf champion was still awake.

Nordegren, according to the same sources, then called Uchitel, saying something to the effect of: ‘I knew it was you.’

And Uchitel, a nightclub hostess, could only utter, ‘Oh f***,’ and hang up.

What followed has been widely reported.

Tiger woke to his wife screaming.

He grabbed his cellphone back, dashed to the bathroom, locking himself in to text Uchitel that he was probably getting a ‘divorce’.

When he finally emerged from the bathroom, Nordegren snatched his phone and read the word 'divorce', which sent her into a fury, according to the New York Post.

Tiger is then believed to have ran barefoot to his Escalade as Elin chased him with a golf club.

The professional sportsman then crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree just a stone's throw away from his home in Windermere, Florida.

When police arrived Tiger was unconscious lying in the street with the two back windows smashed out of his car.

As the days and weeks wore on, following Thanksgiving night, it was revealed that Tiger had mistresses numbering in the dozens.

He was later admitted to rehab for sex addiction.

Nordegren was awarded $100million in her divorce settlement, a portion of Tiger’s estimated $1billion.

The former couple have two children together,  six-year-old Sam and four-year-old Charlie.

Tiger is currently in a very public romance with skier Lindsey Vonn.
