Shabbos might soon be able to return to being a real day of
rest in Crown Heights.
A man has been arrested in connection with 7 burglaries that
took place over the past few months in the neighborhood on Shabbos, the latest
just this Friday night.
The last was at a home on Union Street, between Kingston and
Brooklyn Avenues, where electronics and silverware were stolen while the Jewish
family slept upstairs.
The name of the suspect arrested is Rudolph Boseman, a
55-year-old black male, who police say is tied to the pattern of home
burglaries on the day when Jewish residents are usually fast asleep after
prayers and a joyous meal.
Mr. Boseman is a career criminal, in and out of prison, he
did a 13 year stretch a few years back, police said.
The NYPD explained that they are able to charge him in one
of the burglaries because security video footage identified him and a stolen
cell phone in his possession was traced to that robbery.
"We are still actively investigating the case to work
on charging him in the rest of the robberies, we believe he is the
perpetrator," an officer said.
