Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, 93, back in hospital

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the 93-year-old spiritual leader of the Shas political party, was hospitalized Saturday night after feeling weak and dehydrated.

Rabbi Yosef, a former chief rabbi and powerful force in Israel’s political and religious life, has reportedly been suffering from complications following a urinary tract surgery, according to media reports.

He was taken to Jerusalem’s Haddasah Ein Karem hospital, where his condition was listed as “good” according to Radio Kol Hai.

The rabbi has been hospitalized a number of times over the last several months as his health has deteriorated, including spending 10 days at the medical center earlier in the month.

His son, Rabbi David Yosef, said his father’s condition was “worse than it has ever been,” and asked that people pray for his health.
