Jerusalem - Crisis Hotlines Blocked On Israeli Kosher Phones

In a shocking discovery, Haredi kosher cellphone companies blocked access to rape and abuse hotlines from their phones, according to a report in Yedioth Ahronoth.

Some kosher cellphone holders have reported that they are unable to dial 1201, which is a psychiatric emergency hotline, 1202, which is a hotline for female rape victims, and 1203, which is a hotline for male rape victims.

1204, which is a hotline for students, who are abused by their teachers, is also blocked.

The only four digit number with a 12 prefix that works is the ZAKA hotline.

Last year, the Knesset passed a law, which mandates that all these numbers should be free of charge and non trackable in order to ensure anonymity.

When the phone companies were asked about this they said that the numbers were blocked on the direct orders of the rabbis.
