Two women and a man were critically injured following a
terrible accident on the first day of Rosh Hashana, as thousands were making
their way to 770 to do Tashlich. The two women were pinned underneath an SUV
and a light pole.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, the first day of
Rosh Hashana, at around 7:00pm at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and
Kingston Avenue. in total five pedestrians and two drivers were hurt, two of
the pedestrians were critically injured.
Two of the victims, A 44 year old woman, was hospitalized
with severe leg trauma, and a 19-year-old woman with severe head trauma and
internal injuries was also rushed to the hospital. Both are guests who were in
Crown Heights for the holidays.
The crash occurred as black Hyundai sedan attempted to make
a left turn from the Parkway onto Kingston Avenue, but an white Infiniti SUV
traveling west bound on the parkway and going straight t-boned the sedan – then
went careening onto the sidewalk and smashed into a light pole, pinning two
victims one underneath the vehicle and another between it and the pole.
Flying debris injured one young man, and two other women
suffered shock injuries. Both drivers also required medical attention.
The two female victims were originally listed in grave
condition, and by morning they Boruch Hashem pulled through and are expected to
survive.
