Ninive Petrocelli, UWS Wife drowns after mysteriously falling overboard while boating with hubby in Hamptons

A wealthy New York woman boating with her husband in the Hamptons allegedly fell overboard around midnight on Sunday and drowned, local police say.

Authorities said Ninive Petrocelli, 39, was not wearing a life jacket when she was reported missing from the 45-foot boat that was anchored in Block Island Sound about two miles off of Long Island’s eastern tip.

John Petrocelli, her husband, told investigators he didn’t see his wife of four years fall into the water, but that he heard screaming and splashing in the darkness.

He told the authorities that he threw about 10 life jackets in the direction of his wife’s screams and then radioed the Coast Guard on a military frequency, the New York Post reported.

John Petrocelli, 54, is the son of Clement Petrocelli, a partner of the largest privately owned electric company, Petrocelli Electric, based in New York City, according to the Post.

He is also the co-owner of John Petrocelli Construction in New York.

The Coast Guard reportedly searched for the missing Ninvine by air and sea all night.

Her body was spotted in a red summer dress floating in the water about five miles south of where she vanished 12 hours after she was reported missing.

Local homicide detectives were called into the investigation by evening because of unanswered questions about the incident, an unnamed law-enforcement source told the Post, declining to elaborate further

Neighbors told the Post that the couple appeared happy and took the boat out almost every weekend during the summer, sometimes leaving as early as Thursday and not returning until Tuesday.

‘We’re going through this tragedy right now, and I’m not in a place to talk about this right now,’ one relative told the New York tabloid.

Ninive’s body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted, police said.
