NEW YORK - Kristin Davis, the woman known as the Manhattan Madam, and currently a candidate for the New York City Comptroller has been  arrested for allegedly selling prescription drugs.

The FBI says Davis sold pills four times to an FBI cooperating witness.  She was arrested Monday in Manhattan was was expected to face a judge on Tuesday.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement: "As alleged, Kristin Davis sold dangerous and highly-addictive prescription pills to a known drug dealer on repeated occasions in exchange for cash."

The FBI says that on three occasions from January to March, Davis sold hundreds of prescription pills containing amphetamine, alprazolam, zolpidem, and carisoprodol to a drug dealer.

That dealer happened to be a cooperating witness with the FBI and was wearing a wire.

Agents say that during the sales, Davis was recorded saying that the pills she was selling were "Ambien," "Soma," and "Xanax."

Spitzer resigned in disgrace after the scandal became public.
