Brooklyn, NY - The city plans to honor the memory of a 34
year-old Jamaican-born Orthodox Jewish liquor store clerk who was shot to death
in 2010 in Midwood while defending his girlfriend from a would-be robber.
The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Reports that a dedication re-naming
the intersection of Avenue J and Nostrand Ave. in Midwood “Yoseph Robinson
Avenue” will be permanently affixed in honor of the fallen clerk from MB
VIneyards.
In August of 2010, Yoseph Robinson was fatally shot in the
chest while attempting to grab the gun of a masked thug who had demanded his
girlfriend, Lahavah Wallace, hand over her jewelry.
Lavanah Wallace, who collaborated with Councilman Jumaame
Williams (D-Midwood) on the dedication, said she “hopes” the sign will
encourage people who didn’t know Yoseph to stop and “ask who he was.”
