MK Rabbi Litzman Proposes 10 Year Prison Term For Discriminating Against Haredi Jews

Jerusalem - MK Yaakov Litzman (Yahadut Hatorah) has proposed an amendment calling for up to 10 years in prison for anyone refusing to either work or do business with Haredi Jews.

ARUTZ SHEVA 7  is reporting that Litzman’s proposal would add more specific language to existing criminal codes aimed at combatting discrimination, including a clause stating that there is a “prohibition on boycotting due to religion or boycotting Haredi Jews.”

In issuing his proposal, Litzman hinted that such a law would have applied to the existing government during its formation, saying that Haredis were purposely excluded solely based on religion.

Litzman said that adding the term “boycott,” the Haredi name, and the possible prison term in the “definition” of the law, would help prevent future offense.
