Private burial for Glauber baby


MONSEY – A baby delivered after his parents, Nachman and Raizy Glauber, were killed in a Brooklyn hit-and-run accident has died, a spokesman for the religious communiuty said Monday.

Isaac Abraham said the child died around 5:30 a.m. Monday. He serves as a spokesman for the family's Orthodox Jewish community.

A private burial was bring scheduled in Kiryas Joel, a Satmar Hasidic Jewish village in Orange County. Nachman Glauber was raised in Monsey, the son of a family that manufactured clothing.

The boy, who will be named and circumcised following religious traditions, had initially been listed in serious condition hours after the accident, Abraham said. Neighbors and friends said the boy weighed only about 4 pounds.

Police are searching for the driver of a BMW and a passenger who fled the scene of the accident early Sunday.

Abraham said the driver should be charged with murder of the parents and the baby.

“It is of upmost importance that the driver be charged with a triple homicide when he’s caught,” Abraham said. “And nothing less.”

The young Hasidic couple were mourned Sunday afternoon by more than 1,000 people.
