Two people rescued after small plane crashes in New York river

A small plane plunged into the Hudson River around 6 p.m. last night near the Yonkers Pier — and a pair of occupants wearing life jackets were later fished out of the water uninjured, according to Yonkers cops.

NYPD and FDNY divers were called to the scene to assist in rescue efforts, but it’s unclear if the two occupants were picked up by emergency crews or private boaters.

The plane sank shortly after the rescue.

Last night’s plunge comes nearly four years to the day after USAirways Capt. Chesley Sullenberger’s famed “Miracle on the Hudson” landing.

Sullenberger miraculously landed his disabled passenger-packed Airbus A320 safely on the Hudson, off Midtown Manhattan, on Jan. 15, 2009
