NYPD: AMBER Alert Issued For Two Abducted Bronx Children


NEW YORK  – An AMBER Alert has been issued for two missing children in the Bronx following a domestic dispute, according to police.

Police said the suspect, Fitz Edwards, fired a gun before setting a home on fire. He then allegedly took off with the two young children in a car he jacked, police said.

According to police, Nahzir Edwards, approximately five years old, and Mlyliah Edwards, approximately two years old, were abducted on Barker Avenue at about 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Police have identified Edwards, 29, described as a black man with braided black hair. He is about 6′ tall with a slim build and was last seen wearing a dark jacket.

He is believed to be armed with a gun, police said.

The suspect is expected to be traveling in a grey 4-door sedan 2005 Honda Accord with NY license plate number EWV6599. The license plate is the white empire version, police said.

UPDATE: NYPD cancels Amber alert


NEW YORK — 12:02 p.m. The NYPD has canceled this morning’s Amber Alert for two young Bronx children. No further information was immediately avaiable.

New York City authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a 5-year-old boy and 2-year old girl taken from their Bronx home.

Authorities say the children, Nahzir Edwards and Mlyliah Edwards were taken from the Barber Avenue residence by 29-year-old Fitz Edwards early this morning. The children, who were not wearing shoes, may have been abducted at gunpoint and Edwards is believed to be armed with a handgun.

Edwards, who is 6 feet tall, was seen wearing a dark jacket and is believed to be traveling with the children in a gray 2005 Honda Accord with a white-and-blue New York license plate EWV6599.

The vehicle was car-jacked after the abduction.
