New Square - Van Jumps Curb, Injures 5 Children

Rockland County, NY - Five children from New Square are hospitalized – some in critical condition – after a Five Star Home Medical van jumped the curb and plowed into the kids as they stood on the sidewalk. The accident occurred just before 4 PM on Bush Lane.

Hatzolah and Spring Hill ambulance crews responded to the scene, as did Ramapo Police. Three of the children were removed to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, while the other two were taken to Nyack Hospital. They range in age between seven and nine.

The Journal News reports (http://lohud.us/OXc15P) that an electrical transformer was also impacted by the crash. Downed electrical wires have left about 450 people without power. Service is expected to be restored soon according to a spokesman from Orange and Rockland Utilities.

There has been no word yet as to the cause of the accident.
