Car crashes into Staten Island home, injuring mom and 5-year-daughter

A Staten Island mom and her young daughter were seriously injured when a car drove straight into their home and pinned them early Friday, officials said.

The woman, 40, and her 5-year-old daughter were in their beds when the driver of a 2010 Hyundai blew through a stop sign at the corner of Arthur Kill Road and Lee Ave. in Tottenville and crashed into the front of the house at 4:10 a.m., according to police.

The victims were rushed to Staten Island University Hospital in critical condition, but have since stabilized.

The 22-year-old driver refused medical attention and was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was being questioned by cops.
