Two children found dead in Bronx gas leak

An EMS crew said the children died at the scene in the Bronx

A 5-year-old Bronx boy and his infant sister died from a lethal gas leak possibly caused by their suicidal mother — who was found alive nearby with her wrists slashed, a police source said.

A suicide note/confession was discovered near the bodies, indicating the mom intended to kill her kids and herself inside the Nobel Ave. apartment, the source said.

An upstairs tenant in the building called 911 just before midnight Thursday to report the leak.

First responders arrived to find a gruesome sight: The unresponsive little boy and his 4-month-old sibling lying dead inside the southeast Bronx home.

But the 29-year-old mother was alive, with just minor cuts on her wrists, and she was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment, police said. She was listed in stable condition.

The woman’s devastated husband, reportedly a city cop, broke down in tears after returning home to find his apartment was now a likely crime scene, WABC-TV reported.

Both the children were pronounced dead at the scene by an EMS crew.
