T.O.T. Regrets to inform you of the tragic Petira of Ezra Raphael Cornman Z”L, a 12-year-old child who was critically injured Tuesday afternoon, after a sand tunnel he was building on a beach, collapsed on top of him.
The incident happened on the Long Branch Beach (near Deal NJ).
According to police, the boy was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest after the sand tunnel he had dug collapsed on him at the beach between Madison and Cooper avenues around 3:20PM. Police said the boy dug the tunnel with his younger brother.
Lifeguards responded, and performed CPR on him. He was taken to Monmouth Medical Center, where he was placed on life support until his Petira just a few moments ago.
The Cornman family lives in Brooklyn, and are part of the Sephardic (Syrian) community.
