Maria Menounos: I Was Sexually Abused by Two Doctors

Maria Menounos may project an image of perfect body confidence, but the star recently revealed that she has been hiding a secret shame.

During a visit on Monday’s "The Howard Stern Show," the “Extra” host revealed she’s been sexually abused by multiple physicians during past examinations.

The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant said her phobia of doctors began when she visited a physician to treat a throat issue. She said the doctor had asked her to change into a hospital gown, and she felt paralyzed when he began to touch her genitals.

"I was really young, so I was so uncomfortable,” Menounos, 34, told Stern. “(My boyfriend) Kevin (Undergaro) was in the waiting room and I literally started screaming ... I was just so uncomfortable I didn't know what to do."

Menounos said her longtime beau had encouraged her to press charges against the doctor, but she didn't want to make the issue any worse.

Sadly, the TV host said that this wasn’t the only time a male doctor had made her feel uncomfortable.

She also revealed that she has endured other medical examinations during which the doctors, including a male gynecologist, complimented her belly button piercing before touching it.

Now, Menounos makes sure to bring her boyfriend into the examination room with her, especially if she’s getting a gynecological exam.

Menounos' longtime boyfriend also participated in the interview with Stern Monday, and the notoriously private TV producer spoke out about their 14-year relationship with rare candor.

Asked if he ever had any doubts about Menounos' fidelity, Undergaro paused for a moment, during which the "Extra" host shrieked, "You're thinking?! You're thinking?!"

"Out of all of them? I'd say Derek," Undergaro replied when Stern asked if there were ever any men in Menounos' life of whom he felt jealous.

"That would be the one. This was the only time I ever wondered, yeah."

Menounos upheld the impression of an are-they-aren't-they relationship with dance partner Derek Hough during this season of "Dancing With the Stars," a storyline that, coupled with her strong dance skills, helped propel her into the finals.

The couple shared several steamy kisses on the dance floor that sent the show's fans into a frenzy, and reportedly remain close friends.

Stern was seemingly flabbergast that Udergaro didn't burst into a jealous rage at the ensuing speculations that Hough and Menounos were dating, but Undergaro explained what kept him level-headed.

"You know what, Howard? I just put my mind on other things," he told the radio host. "It's A, I trust Maria and B, what can I do?"
