Ex-NYPD officer: RFK Bridge police beat and jailed me

An ex-NYPD sergeant is accusing RFK Bridge cops of attacking him and tossing him in jail after a verbal spat with a toll collector who dropped his change.

Paul Damore, 47, who retired on disability in 2007, said the beating was captured by a security camera. He sued in Bronx Supreme Court to make sure the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority keeps the video.

He was at the former Triborough Bridge’s Bronx plaza, heading to Long Island, on May 22 when the 50 cents the collector handed him fell to the pavement.

The collector refused to pick it up, said Damore, who admits he muttered, “Jeez, what an A-hole.”

A handcuffed Damore identified himself as a retired NYPD cop, but he says several TBTA cops roughed him up and charged him with resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental business and harassment.

Judie Glave, a TBTA spokeswoman, would not comment.
