MONSEY - Police search for diamond bandit

MONSEY - Town of Ramapo police are searching for a woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of diamonds from a local jewelry store.

The suspect was caught last week on surveillance camera at the Jewelry Showroom in Monsey. She apparently asked the owner to see some diamond rings then asked again for some bracelets.
As the owner turned away, the woman replaced the rings with fake replicas she held in her hand.

Authorities say she stole three rings valued at $20,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ramapo police at 845-357-2400.
