NJ - State Troopers May Be In Hot Water For Alleged ‘Death Race 2012′

Two state troopers could be in hot water for allegedly speeding down the Garden State Parkway with their lights and sirens on back on the afternoon of March 30.

The troopers escorted a caravan of luxury sports cars down the parkway to Atlantic City, The Star-Ledger reported. The paper said that the cars were traveling more than 100 miles per hour, and among the people in the cars was former Giants running back and sports car enthusiast Brandon Jacobs.

The luxury cars included Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris, and their license plates were covered with tape, according to the paper.

Witnesses of the incident, the Star-Ledger said, are dubbing it “Death Race 2012.”

A spokesman for the state police said police escorts are rare, and that they’re supposed to be used only for certain occasions, such as high-profile funerals. He also confirmed that an investigation into the matter is taking place.
