Bergen County - Prosecutor Announces Additional Arrest In Synagogue Firebombing

Congregation Beth El in Rutherford

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with firebomb attacks on New Jersey synagogues in January, prosecutors announced Friday.

Bergen County prosecutors would not give details ahead of a late-afternoon briefing, but a source familiar with the case tells NBC New York that the second suspect is believed to have aided the main accused firebomber, Anthony Graziano, who was arrested in January.

The source said authorities believe the pair had past discussions about planning the alleged hate crimes. The second person is not believed to have physically carried out the firebombings of the synagogues.

The charges against the second person were not immediately clear.

No other details were released. The agency has scheduled a news conference on the arrest at 4 p.m. today.
