Man charged with threatening NYC's top cop

NEW YORK — A Brooklyn man has been arrested on charges he made online threats against New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

The Daily News says 49-year-old Richard Strauss wrote on the Gothamist website that the commissioner was "the enemy of the people and the constitution." He also commented that a "well placed round of 7.62 ammo to his thick skull would work quite well to eliminate the threat he poses."

Strauss was arrested on charges of making a terroristic threat and harassment after police noticed the comment and tracked him to his East Flatbush home. He posted $10,000 bail after his arraignment Wednesday.

His lawyer says Strauss "had no intent to make any harm" and that "it was merely a post in a blog. Nothing more."
