Ramapo cop injured in MVA

A Ramapo police officer suffered minor injuries this morning when his cruiser was involved in a crash with another car on North Airmont Road

MONTEBELLO - A Ramapo police officer suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning when her cruiser was involved in a crash with another car.

Officer Yolanda Tyson was driving a marked patrol vehicle east on North Airmont Road near Par Road at 10:20 a.m. when it collided with a 2008 Toyota Highlander going west.

Zvi Swiatycki, 50, of Monsey, was the only person in the Toyota.

The SUV appeared to hit the side of the cruiser, with the police car ending up off the road in the woods.

The officer was taken by Ramapo Valley Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was treated and released. Swiatycki declined medical attention, according to police.

No tickets were issued. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
