Police: Westport Jewelry Store Murder Suspect Seen In Philadelphia
Suspect in jewelry store killing – Westport, CT
PHILADELPHIA – Police say the man suspected of killing a Westport, Conn. jeweler last week was seen in Philadelphia three days earlier, possibly casing stores.
Connecticut police held a news conference on Thursday in Philadelphia, where they released surveillance video of the suspect.
The man wore a dark-colored cap and dark-framed glasses on Dec. 5 as he visited stores in an area of Philadelphia known as Jewelers Row.
On Dec. 8, Yekutiel Zeevi was shot to death inside YZ Jewelers on Thursday night. A second victim, Ronen Konfino, survived the shooting.
Authorities said that on Dec. 7, he was seen driving a blue 4-door vehicle, described as “boxy,” possibly a Scion or Nissan Cube-type vehicle with no front plate.
The suspect is being described as a white man in his mid 40′s, between 5’10” and 6’0” tall with a medium build and salt-and-pepper colored hair.
Connecticut state police Sgt. Jim Kline says the suspect was described by witnesses as well-spoken and as someone who seemed to have considerable knowledge about diamonds.
Anyone with information is asked to call Westport police at 203-341-6000.
