Ticket-fixing cop sues city, claims partner ran him over in their patrol car

A cop whose ticket-fixing efforts threw a monkey wrench into a Bronx attempted murder case plans to sue the city because his own partner ran him over in their patrol car, he says.

Officer Salvador Duran claims Officer Eddy Calderon reversed and slammed into him last year as Duran chased a gun-wielding suspect on E. 141st St.

“My partner recklessly, suddenly, and without warning reversed the vehicle, hitting me with the rear bumper and causing me to be struck and dragged five to ten feet on the ground by the passenger door,” Duran wrote in legal papers filed in Bronx Supreme Court.

Duran missed a month of work after the Sept. 26, 2010, accident — and underwent shoulder surgery three months ago after the injury worsened.

He remains out of work as a result, he says.

“Until realizing how serious the injury was, I never really concerned myself with bringing legal action because I assumed the injury was going to get better,” Duran wrote in his notice of claim filing, which is the first step in bringing a lawsuit.

The city’s law department had no comment.

It’s been a rocky year on the job for Duran, an eight-year NYPD veteran who was caught on a wiretap asking his union delegate to fix three summonses.

Duran brazenly defended his ticket-fixing in court in May, testifying that he deserved special treatment because of his job. Lance Williams, whom Duran arrested for attempted murder, was acquitted a few days later.

Jurors said Duran’s “lack of credibility” played a big role in their decision.
