Santa Ana, CA - Councilwoman Offers to Apologize in Person for Hitler Remarks

Santa Ana, CA - Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez today released a statement saying she wants to meet with and apologize personally to Irv Chase and his son Ryan Chase for remarks in which she accused the downtown landlords of “ethnic cleansing” and compared Irv Chase to Adolf Hitler.
Alvarez made those remarks during the council’s Aug. 24 meeting.

“I have personally and through others reached out to the Chase family and to the ADL requesting to meet so I can apologize to them in person and have a constructive dialogue

Alvarez has apologized in interviews with TV, print and web journalists, but she had previously said she wouldn’t apologize directly to the Chases, who are Jewish, for her remarks.

The City Council on Tuesday will consider whether Alvarez violated the city’s code of ethics and conduct with the remarks.
