Casey Anthony ordered to turn herself into Sheriff's office for probation related to fraud
Casey Anthony is being flushed from her hiding place by a Florida judge who has ordered the acquitted daughter-killer to report to a probation officer this week.
Anthony is "to report to Probation upon release" for each of the seven counts of check-writing fraud that she pleaded guilty to in January 2010, Circuit Judge Stan Strickland wrote Monday.
The Orlando judge gave Anthony 72 hours to turn herself in to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
"We are moving forward to make sure she is following the judge's orders," said Gretl Plessinger, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections.
Anthony, who was released on July 17, went underground after her dramatic acquittal on charges she murdered her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
Although Anthony was convicted of lying to detectives, she was released from jail because of time served.
Her lawyers, who vowed to challenge the judge's order, had interpreted Strickland's sentence to mean that Anthony could serve out the probation while she was in jail awaiting trial.
No such luck.
In clarifying his ruling, Strickland said he intended for Anthony to serve her probation after she was released from jail.
Anthony, 25, admitted stealing checks from her friend Amy Huizenga and fraudulently cashing five of them totalling $644.25.
For that, Strickland ordered Anthony to serve 412 days in jail followed by a year's probation in January 2010, while she awaited trial for killing Caylee.
If Strickland's order stands, Anthony will not be allowed to leave the Orlando area for a year without the permission of her probation officer, whom she will have to report to by the fifth day of each month.
Anthony will also be barred from having any contact with Huizenga and not be allowed to own a firearm without the officer's OK.
Also the hard-partying Anthony is not allowed to get drunk or hang out with known criminals. She will be subject to regular drug tests. And she has to get a job.
