Successful Colombian singer Shakira landed in Israel on Monday with her boyfriend, Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique.
After escaping the paparazzi waiting for them at Ben-Gurion Airport, the two traveled to Jerusalem, where they visited the Western Wall and spent the night in a local hotel
The popular musician, who was linked in the past to a harsh anti-Israel statement, put an end to the rumors on her relations with the Jewish state and arrived in the country as the founder and representative of the Barefoot Foundation, a US non-profit, non-governmental organization devoted to ensuring that every child can exercise his or her basic right to a quality education.
A tight schedule awaits Shakira on Tuesday. In the afternoon she is expected to visit a United Nations Children's Fund school in Jerusalem, and will later hold a joint press conference with President Shimon Peres before taking part in a special panel at the Israeli Presidential Conference.
