NYPD: Woman Stole Cop Car's License Plate
A middle-aged Brooklyn woman yesterday swiped a special NYPD license plate off a marked patrol car -- and then bizarrely stuffed it down her pants, police sources said.
Beryl Duncan, 53, was charged with snatching the plate from an NYPD 2009 Chevrolet Impala parked near Prospect Park, where cops had been called to quell a rowdy crowd around 1 a.m., sources said.
While Officer Luis Vega went inside a nearby building to investigate, a witness reportedly saw Duncan shove the plate down her trousers.
When Vega confronted Duncan, she denied stealing the plate. She then allegedly claimed that it fell off the police car and she was holding it for the cop.
Duncan was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
