SAYVILLE - A police pursuit has ended in a deadly crash on Long Island.

The accident happened just before 2:00 p.m. on Sunrise Highway Service Road in Sayville.

The suspects were wanted for stealing around $4,000 worth of clothing from the True Religion store at Tanger Outlets.

One witness says the suspects were first spotted in the store at around 11:30am looking around. They returned at 12:42pm, grabbed the clothing and were out of the store by 12:50pm. They jumped into a car and took off.

A description of the vehicle was put out over police radios by Riverhead Police.

A Suffolk Sherriff's Officer spotted the vehicle on the LIE and tried to get it to pull over, but the driver refused and a chase ensued.

The suspect's vehicle exited at 64 onto Route 112 South. The chase continued onto the westbound Sunrise Highway Service Road where the suspect crashed head on into another vehicle.

Both drivers were injured, but the innocent driver of the other car not involved in the chase later died at the hospital.
