Nothing to sneeze at: Atlanta man arrested after blowing his nose leads to scuffle with cop
Now this is a cold case: An Atlanta man busted after blowing his runny nose set off a scuffle with police.
An ailing Alfred Murphy was inside a station on the MARTA train line when he started snatching paper towels off a maintenance cart, police said.
An officer in the station asked Murphy to keep his hands off the towels, since they were used for station clean-up - but Murphy blew him off late Monday evening.
The officer repeated the request, and Murphy again ignored him, insisting his paid fare covered paper towels and a train ride, police said.
When the officer ordered Murphy to leave, the man grabbed a police phone inside the station and "began to make incoherent statements about being assaulted and officers trying to kill him," a police report said.
The MARTA cop called for assistance just before Murphy flew into a rage, clutching the phone receiver while hitting two cops in the face, the report said.
One of the officers was left with a bloody nose, while the second was left with cuts on his forehead and beneath his right eye, police said.
Murphy - who was on probation - was brought to the Fulton County Jail on charges of battery, obstruction and hindering of a law enforcement officer and criminal trespassing
