BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Authorities in central New Jersey say two people are dead at a jewelry store in Bridgewater after an apparent robbery attempt ended as a murder-suicide.
Somerset County prosecutor's spokesman Jack Bennett said a man with a gun entered the Roy T. Jewelers store in the Bridgewater Towne Center shopping center around 4:45 p.m. Monday.
Bennett tells The Star-Ledger of Newark that the man shot the owner, killing him, then turned the gun on himself.
Further details were not immediately available.
Police cordoned off an area in front of several stores, and there was a large police presence in the area Monday evening.
