Renowned Haredi philanthropist, Dudi Zilberschlag, was photographed entering a hotel room with a young woman allegedly hired to frame him.
Renowned Haredi publicist, businessman and founder of the non-profit organization Meir Panim, Dudi Zilberschlag, filed a complaint against two of his employees who allegedly attempted to blackmail him using a call girl. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court lifted a gag order on the case on Monday.
Based on police reports, two men who are senior staff at Meir Panim, attempted to extort Zilberschlag by photographing him with a young woman used to frame him. The men hired two private detectives who orchestrated the plan, including hiring the woman.
The young woman allegedly approached Zilberschlag and introduced herself as the daughter of a Meir Panim donor. She then allegedly said that she wanted to thank him personally and wished to make an additional donation as her father was hospitalized.
Zilberschlag and the woman met three times, the third time at a hotel where they entered a room alone. The private detectives placed hidden cameras in the room with the assistance of a hotel security officer.
The detectives photographed Zilberschlag and the woman and then sent the pictures to him, his lawyer, and the arbitrator meant to mediate between Zilberschlag and the two main suspects, whom he had already filed an earlier complaint against regarding another matter.
In addition to the photos, Zilberschlag was sent short messages from the young woman's [fabricated] husband and threats that the photos would be disseminated further. It is believed that the suspects were hoping to force Zilberschlag to retract the case he had filed against them.
Zilberschlag reported the incident to the police and the suspects, the two detectives they hired, the young woman and the hotel security officer have all been arrested.
Uri Kedar and Amir Barak, the lawyers who are representing one of the suspects, rejected the allegations, saying their client had "no involvement in the case."
"We are saddened by this attempt to slander his name and blacken his face.. He is a respected businessman in Israel and the world and an exceptional philanthropist who dedicates his life to helping ten of thousands of Israel's poor," Kedar and Barak said.
"Unlike our client, the complainant [Zilberschlag] is a man with huge debts who has cheated dozens of people and collected many enemies. He has been caught behaving in a way that does not reflect the values of the society to which he belongs. Now he is trying to deflect the suspicions that have been cast against him recently through different news channels and as such has filed a false complaint."
Rachel Evenbaum, the CEO of Meir Panim, has responded to the allegations, saying that "we at Meir Panim only receive information from the media and we have not involvement in this matter. We ask that care be taken to ensure that no harm is done to the organization and the people it helps daily. Meir Panim feeds and provides aid and support to tens of thousands of poor people in Israel every day. This is our mission and the reason we are here and will continue. Our hands are in giving, our hearts wish to donate and our entire days are dedicated to the population of Israel's poor."
Evenbaum continued, saying that "this is how things were when I took my position two years ago, and this is how Meir Panim will continue to be run, with vigor and faith. This case has nothing to do with the way the organization operates, and we request that the organization, which has always been run with the utmost managerial transparency and honesty, be permitted to continue to help those in need, without distractions or harm."

חוקרים פרטיים צילמו את זילברשלג והצעירה התמונות נשלחו אליו תוך הפעלת איומים לפיהם הצילומים יישלחו למקורביו החשודים בפרשה: שני עסקנים חרדים הנאבקים מול זילברשלג בשליטה בעמותת "מאיר פנים" במסגרת הסכסוך הגיש נגד השניים תביעות, שבאמצעות ניסיון הסחיטה ניסו כביכול להביא למשיכתן
בית משפט השלום בירושלים התיר לפרסם (יום ב', 17.1.11) פרשה שבמסגרתה נעצרו שני בני אדם בחשד לניסיון סחיטה באמצעות נערת פיתוי של העסקן החרדי דודי זילברשלג.
ע"פ הפרסום, המשטרה עצרה את דודי רוט ופרץ הירשנבוים בחשד שניסו לפתות את זילברשלג, ששימש כיו"ר ארגון חרדי מוכר שנהג, בין השאר, לגייס כספים לבית החולים "ביקור חולים". בין רוט והירשנבוים לזילברשלג קיים סכסוך ארוך ימים שעיקרו שליטה בעמותת "מאיר פנים", אותה הקים זילברשלג לזכר בנו. הוא עצמו פוטר מהעמותה לאחר שלדבריו, הירשנבוים ורוט השתלטו עליה. זילברשלג מנהל שורה של תביעות נגד השניים, ועל-פי החשד בכך היה טמון מניע הסחיטה.
את הניסיון הסחיטה לכאורה נגד זילברשלג ביצעו רוט והירשנבוים באמצעות שליחת נערת פיתוי שהייתה אמורה לצלמו במצבים מביכים. את הצעירה העסיקו השניים באמצעות שני חוקרים פרטיים, שנעצרו גם הם. הצעירה פנתה אל זילברשלג והציגה את עצמה כבתו של תורם עשיר לעמותה שמבקשת להודות לו באופן אישי ולתרום כספים נוספים, לאחר שאביה אושפז בבית חולים. השניים נפגשו שלוש פעמים ובפעם השלישית הם נכנסו לחדר בבית מלון שבו התקינו החוקרים הפרטיים מצלמות סמויות, בסיוע של קב"ט בית המלון.
החוקרים צילמו את זילברשלג והצעירה והתמונות נשלחו אליו, אל עורך דינו וכן אל בורר שהיה אמור לפסוק בין זילברשלג לבין שני החשודים העיקריים. במקביל, נשלחו אל זילברשלג מסרונים מבעלה כביכול של הצעירה, בהם פורטו איומים לפיהם התמונות ישלחו למקורביו. בעקבות הדברים, הגיש זילברשלג תלונה למשטרה על ניסיון הסחיטה ובעקבות החקירה נעצרו כאמור שני העסקנים, שני החוקרים הפרטיים, הצעירה וקב"ט בית המלון.
עורכי הדין אורי קידר ואמיר ברק, המייצגים את הירשנבוים, דחו את טענות המשטרה נגדו ואמרו כי למרשם "אין כל קשר או מעורבות לפרשה האמורה, ואנו מצרים על הניסיון להכפיש את שמו ולהשחיר את פניו... הוא איש עסקים מכובד ביותר בארץ ובעולם ופילנתרופ יוצא דופן שמקדיש את חייו לסיוע לעשרות אלפי נזקקים בישראל".
יש לציין כי הפרשה הכתה בתדהמה את הרחוב החרדי. זילברשלג בן ה-53 מרבה להופיע באמצעי התקשורת החילוניים כמבטא את עמדת הציבור החרדי, וכפרשן על הנעשה במגזר החרדי, ונחשב ל"מגשר" בין העולמות
