A pair of Georgia peaches living the high life during a wild New York City vacation said yesterday cops should focus on the peddler who gave them the credit cards.
Adrienne Milam, 34, and Yolanda Murray, 43, who arrived to New York City after hopping on a plane from Atlanta, Ga. last Friday, cruised around in a pricey Mercedes and allegedly went on a shopping spree with forged credit cards before cops busted them in Herald Square on Monday.
"Why are they targeting us," Murray asked during an exclusive interview from Riker’s Island. "I told cops they need to get the man who gave us these credit cards in Atlanta. We didn’t do anything wrong.
Murray said she was supposed to be meeting the peddler Wednesday and turn over their trove of expensive purchases. The pair were enjoying their stay at the swanky Gavensvoort hotel before their arrest.
"It was the least expensive hotel we could find," Milam said of the swank joint, where rooms go for up to $700 a night. "And the Mercedes was the only clean one at the rental agency."
Police found over six dozen forged credit cards in their rental car along with a stash of pricey electronics. Cops also recovered a collection of high-end fashion gear from their hotel room, including Louis Vuitton bags, a Fendi purse and Gucci boots. The pair insist they used their own credit cards to make the purchases but now have to suffer behind bars.
"Cops took everything from us. We don’t have any of our clothes, our shampoos, or our deodorant," Murray whined, while tugging at her hair. "Why did they take the stuff we came with."
"We can’t even call our family in Georgia," added Milan. "We just came here to shop."
They are being charged with identity theft, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
