ALBANY - Disgraced former state Comptroller Alan Hevesi is expected to plead guilty to at least one felony corruption charge this morning in connection with the huge pay-to-play state pension story that has rocked the office he once held.
Sources said Hevesi was due to appear in state Supreme Court in Manhattan at 9:30 a.m.
The sources said Hevesi had been taken into police custody earlier today.
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has been investigating Hevesi and several of his former top aides including his longtime political advisor, Hank Morris, in connection with kickbacks that were paid by investment companies to gain access to the massive state pension retirement fund.
ALAN HEVESI Morris has been indicted on multiple felonies and several guilty pleas have already been entered including one by former state Liberal Party boss Raymond Harding, a longtime Hevesi friend and advisor.
Word of Hevesi's imminent guilty plea leaked last week but Cuomo at the time denied that any deal had been reached.
Hevesi resigned in December, 2006, after pleading guilty to an unrelated felony charge.
