Cops release surveillance photo of man wanted for calling in fake subway bomb threats

Cops released a surveillance-camera image Thursday of a young man who is wanted for calling in phony bomb threats at two Queens subway stations.

A camera inside the Union Turnpike station in Forest Hills recorded a clear image of the diminutive dialer, who used a pay phone to call 911 about 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 14.

The man, who police said stands about 5-foot-3, told the 911 operator there was a bomb inside a bathroom on station's mezzanine level. NYPD cops combed the station, but found no bomb.

Police said the suspect made a second threat about 15 minutes later at the Roosevelt Ave. subway station in Jackson Heights.

He also used a pay phone inside the station to call 911. This time, he told the dispatcher there was a bomb inside an E train at the station.

Once again, a thorough police search of the subway system in the immediate area turned up no evidence of explosives.

The suspect is white and about 20 years old, possibly younger, with closely cut dark hair. He wore a gray and white jacket with dark jeans.

Cops ask anyone with information on the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at (800)577-TIPS.
