Accused rapist gets caught after texting victim for date
An accused rapist texted himself right into jail.
A gutsy Applebee's waitress from Ozone Park faced off against accused rapist, Timothy West, today, recalling in chilling detail how he raped her twice at knifepoint in her bedroom, demanded she cook for him and then asked for her cell phone number.
He was busted two days later when he contacted her to make a date.
"I hoped he would call so I could set him up with the police," the dark-haired 21-year-old testified to Queens Supreme Court judge Richard Buchter about the March 2009 crime.
The accused, West, 26, of Queens, texted the victim later that day and gave her his phone number. She returned the call --- with cops on the line taping the conversation -- and made a plans to meet.
West was busted when he showed up for their "date."
In court, West, dressed in a beige cable sweater and black pants, sat stone faced and stared down his accuser.
The victim testified that she tried to remain calm throughout the ordeal because she feared he would hurt her mother and older brother who were sleeping in the house too.
Throughout a teary testimony, the victim retold how West told her how he had broken into her there three-floor home through a kitchen window, left the front door open in case he needed to make a quick escape and then rifled through the family's belongings.
She said she awoke around 1 a.m. to find a man, she at first thought was her brother, going through her bedroom draws. He approached her holding a large butcher knife, forced her to take off her clothes and had sex with her while wearing a condom.
They chatted for a bit and then he raped her again without wearing a condom, she testified.
Afterwards, she said, he told her he lived nearby with his sister and asked her to make him something to eat.
Downstairs in her kitchen West allegedly helped himself to the family's stash of alcohol and juice.
Can't blame the chimp for his stupidity, it's genetics...
